There is no doubt that with persistence and determination you can accomplish anything your heart desires. Many of us fail to reach our goals because we lose that drive and determination. A little inspiration sometimes is all we need to get us motivated. Are you looking for some inspiration and motivation? Well this week you are in for a treat because I have prepared for you my interview with Rosalie Almonte. This weekend Rosalie makes her dream a reality as she competes at the Miss New York USA pageant.
OU. Rosalie, thank you for taking the time to provide us with this interview. When did you start competing in beauty pageants?
It is my pleasure, thank you for having me. I started competing around the age of twelve. Since then I've competed in six pageants, and have gone home with fourth runner up, Miss photogenic, and Miss Congeniality among other titles.
OU: Wow, that is very impressive. Do you feel getting ready for these exhibitions and competing in them has changed you as a person?
Competing in pageants has not changed me as a person. It has, however given me the opportunity to step out of my comfort zone and do something for a cause I believe in. Being in the pageant has provided me with the stepping stone to empower and become a role model to many individuals.
OU: Can you share with us what you enjoy the most and what you least enjoy about competing in beauty pageants?
What I enjoy most about beauty pageants is the experience. I meet new individuals who become very good friends. I must say what I least enjoy about pageants is the girls reactions when they lose. I believe win or lose you still come out winning because you make great friends, you learn so much, and at the same time you gain a lot of confidence. In my eyes at the end of the day everyone in some shape or form is a winner.
OU: How is the Miss New York USA competition different from the other shows you have participated in?
This pageant is different from others because many pageants focus on talent or simply beauty and Glam just like the glitz pageants we see for children on TV. Unlike other pageants the Miss New York USA encourages women to not only possess external beauty; it also stresses the importance to be recognized for their internal beauty. This pageant looks for intelligent young women who are humble and are looking to be apart of something bigger then themselves, at the same time serving as a positive role model for all females.
OU: For the record ladies and gentleman not all pretty models are brain dead. A little bird told me this beauty actually has a brain (laughing). Would you care to elaborate on that?
(Laughing) you are too funny. Aside from beauty pageants, I am very determined and focused on my career. I am a recent college graduate with a B.A. in psychology and am aspiring to go to law school. At the moment I spend most of my time working as a paralegal, volunteering, and most importantly spending quality time with my family
OU: Rosalie, I know a lot of people want to know and I have to ask, is it true to get ready for these exhibitions you guys run marathon session on a treadmill and starve yourself to the point you are only eating lettuce and crackers?
Great Question, although many women choose the crash diet as their solution, K2 productions and the Miss Universe organization promotes a healthy and nutritious diet to obtain self confidence.
OU: Thank you for confirming that with us. How does health and fitness play a role in the preparation of a pageant?
The swim suit competition is meant to show the commitment for maintaining a healthy and fit body. Being consulted and trained by Odalis Urena, I have learned how to maintain a healthy and fit life style. This has allowed me gain the confidence and preparation needed to compete for the Miss New York USA 2012 pageant.
OU: This Odalis character sounds like a great guy. What brings you the most satisfaction?
You are a clown (laughing). Nothing compares with the amount of satisfaction
obtained by bringing joy and happiness to the lives of others. One of the most significant events that I have volunteered for is "Haunted House for a Cause". With the help of family members and friends, a native long islander, created a life changing fundraiser. The owner of the house hold charged $1 per person and proceeds were collected for Vivian Castro, a women battling with breast cancer. We were able to raise over $3,000 which would go towards Castro's medical expenses - mainly the post-mastectomy reconstructive surgery.
OU: That is very impressive. We are very happy to hear you are following your dreams and serving as an inspiration to others. How can our readers contact you and what can they do to support you?

OU: Okay Princess Rosalie, make sure to invite us to your castle when you win the completion and I will be sure to get bring you a few frogs to kiss to see if one of them turns into your prince charming (laughing). Thanks again for taking the time to sit down and have this interview with me. On a final note what advise do you have for someone who is aspiring to compete in beauty pageants and live a healthy lifestyle like you?
Ha-ha, you are all invited! Mi castle is your casa! It’s my pleasure like always Odalis. The advice I would give to others interested in competing In beauty pageants and living a healthy lifestyle is always be true to your self and remember beauty comes in all shapes and sizes. Also I would tell them everything and everyone has beauty to them, never feel discouraged or less than anyone because the sky is the limit and with determination and faith you can go a long way yourself.
