Interview with Miss New York USA 2012 Contestant Rosalie Almonte

There is no doubt that with persistence and determination you can accomplish anything your heart desires. Many of us fail to reach our goals because we lose that drive and determination. A little inspiration sometimes is all we need to get us motivated. Are you looking for some inspiration and motivation? Well this week you are in for a treat because I have prepared for you my interview with Rosalie Almonte. This weekend Rosalie makes her dream a reality as she competes at the Miss New York USA pageant.

OU. Rosalie, thank you for taking the time to provide us with this interview. When did you start competing in beauty pageants?

It is my pleasure, thank you for having me. I started competing around the age of twelve. Since then I've competed in six pageants, and have gone home with fourth runner up, Miss photogenic, and Miss Congeniality among other titles.

OU: Wow, that is very impressive. Do you feel getting ready for these exhibitions and competing in them has changed you as a person?

Competing in pageants has not changed me as a person. It has, however given me the opportunity to step out of my comfort zone and do something for a cause I believe in. Being in the pageant has provided me with the stepping stone to empower and become a role model to many individuals.

OU: Can you share with us what you enjoy the most and what you least enjoy about competing in beauty pageants?

What I enjoy most about beauty pageants is the experience. I meet new individuals who become very good friends. I must say what I least enjoy about pageants is the girls reactions when they lose. I believe win or lose you still come out winning because you make great friends, you learn so much, and at the same time you gain a lot of confidence. In my eyes at the end of the day everyone in some shape or form is a winner.

OU: How is the Miss New York USA competition different from the other shows you have participated in?

This pageant is different from others because many pageants focus on talent or simply beauty and Glam just like the glitz pageants we see for children on TV. Unlike other pageants the Miss New York USA encourages women to not only possess external beauty; it also stresses the importance to be recognized for their internal beauty. This pageant looks for intelligent young women who are humble and are looking to be apart of something bigger then themselves, at the same time serving as a positive role model for all females.

OU: For the record ladies and gentleman not all pretty models are brain dead. A little bird told me this beauty actually has a brain (laughing). Would you care to elaborate on that?

(Laughing) you are too funny. Aside from beauty pageants, I am very determined and focused on my career. I am a recent college graduate with a B.A. in psychology and am aspiring to go to law school. At the moment I spend most of my time working as a paralegal, volunteering, and most importantly spending quality time with my family

OU: Rosalie, I know a lot of people want to know and I have to ask, is it true to get ready for these exhibitions you guys run marathon session on a treadmill and starve yourself to the point you are only eating lettuce and crackers?

Great Question, although many women choose the crash diet as their solution, K2 productions and the Miss Universe organization promotes a healthy and nutritious diet to obtain self confidence.

OU: Thank you for confirming that with us. How does health and fitness play a role in the preparation of a pageant?

The swim suit competition is meant to show the commitment for maintaining a healthy and fit body. Being consulted and trained by Odalis Urena, I have learned how to maintain a healthy and fit life style. This has allowed me gain the confidence and preparation needed to compete for the Miss New York USA 2012 pageant.

OU: This Odalis character sounds like a great guy. What brings you the most satisfaction?

You are a clown (laughing). Nothing compares with the amount of satisfaction
obtained by bringing joy and happiness to the lives of others. One of the most significant events that I have volunteered for is "Haunted House for a Cause". With the help of family members and friends, a native long islander, created a life changing fundraiser. The owner of the house hold charged $1 per person and proceeds were collected for Vivian Castro, a women battling with breast cancer. We were able to raise over $3,000 which would go towards Castro's medical expenses - mainly the post-mastectomy reconstructive surgery.

OU: That is very impressive. We are very happy to hear you are following your dreams and serving as an inspiration to others. How can our readers contact you and what can they do to support you?

Thank you so much this is very important to me. I always dreamed of being a princess (laughing). They can help me achieve my goal by liking my facebook fan page "Rosalie Almonte for Miss New York USA" and voting by tuning onto my video channel on www.dyyno.com/g/missny2012/. All you have to do is press the share button located on the lower left of the page to submit your vote!

OU: Okay Princess Rosalie, make sure to invite us to your castle when you win the completion and I will be sure to get bring you a few frogs to kiss to see if one of them turns into your prince charming (laughing). Thanks again for taking the time to sit down and have this interview with me. On a final note what advise do you have for someone who is aspiring to compete in beauty pageants and live a healthy lifestyle like you?

Ha-ha, you are all invited! Mi castle is your casa! It’s my pleasure like always Odalis. The advice I would give to others interested in competing In beauty pageants and living a healthy lifestyle is always be true to your self and remember beauty comes in all shapes and sizes. Also I would tell them everything and everyone has beauty to them, never feel discouraged or less than anyone because the sky is the limit and with determination and faith you can go a long way yourself.

What do you belive??

Log onto facebook, twitter, myspace, read the back of that cereal box, drive by a church and read that sign, next time you hit traffic look at the bumper sticker.. what do you see?? Quotes, Quotes, Quotes!!!! Okay so it seems people love quotes so here it is "I believe I believe that's all folks". Notice the key words here "I believe I believe" You see what you "believe" becomes your reality even if its not reality. If you "believe" you "can't" do something then you "can't". I come into contact with people everyday who say that they "can't" do this or "can't" do that. Those are the ones who never seem to get in shape and always find an excuse. They "can" sit down for hours and watch TV and eat everything in site but "can't" find 20 minutes to get a workout in. I always tell my clients before you start any fitness and diet program with we must make sure you have your mind right. I cannot stress the importance of setting goals and adopting empowering beliefs. When you use words like "can't" what you are doing is adopting a limiting belief. Limiting beliefs do just that they "limit" you!!! So get up and believe in yourself!! instead of saying I "can't" do this say "how can I do this" learn to ask yourself better questions and don't doubt yourself. In closing if you have not reached your goal you must be persistent and continue to work towards it. There is always room for improvement. Porky the pig might of believed that was all, but do you??

Venting at 2:06am

Its 2:06 am and I am sitting here in front of my computer browsing the web and listening to Disciple. I am proud to say that this Saturday I will be stepping onstage for my first Natural Bodybuilding show. Yes, I will be standing up there in front of a large crowd in these tinny posing trunks. Some may question what I do and say that I am wasting my time. My family sometimes look at me like I am an odd ball because I come to family gatherings with my own food and wont eat what they have prepared. I bring protein shakes to concerts and never leave home without planning out my meals. Hey, what about the guy that collects comic books or the one that collects stamps?? How about the girl who...whatever...What I am trying to say is that everyone has something they love to do and we should respect that. Its not easy to diet for 3 long months doing tons of weight training on top of marathon cardio sessions. Birthdays come and you don't even eat a piece of cake. Some say I sound like I am complaining but I am not. I am just venting here and telling you how I feel at the moment. I will be honest with you I have been a little down lately because someone who I thought cared about me was messing with me feelings. When you are dieting and trying to fit people into your busy schedule that is the last thing you need. I do try to focus on the positive things that are happening to me but I am human. June 26Th is the big day. As a child I used to dream about appearing on a fitness magazine and having a great body. This Saturday I will be competing in a Natural Bodybuilding show and next month I will appear in 2 fitness magazines...I know some people are busy and probably did not bother to read this blog because its too long..but for those of you who have.I want to tell you that if you really want something if you believe in yourself and work hard for it you can do it. Thank you for supporting me and God Bless you!!!

WILL THE REAL SLIM SHADY PLEASE STAND UP!!!

Sitting here listening to Eminem's new songs I forgot how talented and emotional this artist really is. I know you might bring up his funny songs and video humping a dead moose blah blah blah... Now if you sit down and listen to his serious work you will realize that he puts a lot of emotions into these songs. I am not promoting Eminem. I am trying to make a connection here. Now let me get to my point..There are very few individuals out there that show their true emotions. Many individuals walk around with a mask and tell us things they think we want to hear. The saying "actions speak louder than words" never gets old. Someone can make you feel great for a moment by telling you all these great things but their actions say otherwise. What I have learned is that we must try to improve everyday . I agree that there are many evil individuals out there, but that does not give us a reason to fall into depression and lose our soul. It is very common for us to fall victim to those lies we are told by those who claim to love us. Unfortunately when the mask comes off and they show their true colors a lot of us feel like its the end of the world. Notice how when a relationship ends the first thing a person wants to do is listen to sad songs and do harm to their body. We choose to over or under eat and fall into drugs and alcohol as a cure. As we all know that is no cure if anything we are doing more harm. What we must do is learn from the experience and try to improve. No matter how many times we get hurt we must continue to to strive for improvement so that we will heal. Nothing is easy in life and I know you might say "its easy for you to say that" or "its simply said than done" but you know what if you wanna through slogans here is one "practice makes perfect" if we practice on improving our lives everyday we will perfect our ability to do so. Stay Blessed!!

WHO'S FAULT IS IT?????

Its her fault!! No its his fault!! Its my parents fault!! Its the dogs fault!! Its the neighbors fault!! Its the milkman's fault!! Hahahaha!! The Milkman!! Honestly if it was the 1950s or whatever the hell those years were-I would of loved to be the milkman. I used to watch the black and white shows when I was a kid and the milkmen would always come in when Mr. Smith left to "the office". Then that little seductive music with the flutes would start playing. I always wondered what the hell the point of that little music was when they were alone. When I got older I realized a lot of movies had very similar music with the seductive flute thingy.. Then you would hear the girl scream "OHHH HENRYYYY"!!!...Oh wait this blog is headed to another direction. Let me get back on track. U Turn!!! Here it goes. It was probably like the coolest thing back then. In those days you had a firemen a cop the fonz and the milkman. Those were your role models. The sad thing about it is the milkman got a lot of the blame. It could be because he delivered more than milk to Bonnie from across the street and to Mrs.smith. Lol.. Notice how I used American surnames. I did this because I am of Dominican descent and I don't know if in Spanish countries they had or have a milkman. I will meet up with an anthropologist and we will live with them for awhile and see how they operate. When I have that data, I will be sure to post it for you guys. I know a lot of you have no clue what an anthropologist is..Well, too bad look it up. I am not here to give you a history lesson. Its Anthropologist not Gynecologist..DONT BE A PERV!!! Hahaha...Okay now that I took up so much of your time lets cut the crap and get serious. The moral of the story is that we are always quick to blame others for our mistakes. It is never our fault. The reason why we are in this situation is because of him or her or it. If we go around blaming others we are not doing anything to better ourselves. We get what we focus on. If we continue to focus on how our situation will not improve because of what someone did to us, we will not improve. What we must do is look at what is wrong and try to fix it. We have to ask ourselves better questions instead of doubting ourselves. What I mean by this is that you will ask yourself "What can I learn from this" instead of "I don't think I can do this". If someone hurt you stop blaming that person and get your ass up and better yourself. If your parents did not treat you right that is no excuse for you to treat your kids wrong. If you grew up in a tough environment that is not an excuse for you live in that condition. We all have the resources in us to be successful. Lets use these tools and continue to better ourselves everyday. No matter who did what and if things go wrong you have no body to blame but yourself. The question is are you going continue to blame or continue to better yourself?

If you want it you can do it!!!!!!

Its really late as I sit here with no Idea of how to start this blog. One thing I can say is that I am thankful for all the Lord has done for me. I am also thankful for my family and of course for all of you who have supported me. I am on a journey but I am happy to know that I wont be traveling this road alone. Thats because each and everyone of you is in this with me!!! People often say that its not easy to change. I beg to differ. I believe that you can change in an instant. Think about this for a second.. If you are upset and you see someone fall or rip one out you are going to laugh..lol..What happened there was a change in your state..You went from being sad to happy in an instant..You see life is full of choices you can choose to be happy or you can choose to suffer..Pain however can be a good thing..You can use pain as a motivator to get your ass up and get going..I am not reading a book I am talking from experience. Not that long ago I was depressed and did not want to live. I figured I'd be better of dead. One day I decided enough was enough and I was going to get my act together. Ohhh...here is what I wanted to say. On Saturday June 26th I will be accomplishing one of my dreams!!! I will be competing in my first Natural Bodybuilding show!!! Yes me, the same guy who had man boobs and never took his shirt off at the beach.. I am not only doing this for me..I am doing it for all of my supporters and for those who feel they don't have a reason to live..I don't care about a damn trophy..I am not a devil and far from a saint but in the eyes of the Lord I think I am a Champion..My goal is to motivate those who feel they don't have a purpose to live..I want to show people that if they really want something they can do it.. Am I the most successful person in the world?? Hell no!!! but we all have talents and we should use them..One of my talents of helping others..My mission here is to help you reach your goals. If I can do that I have already won my Trophy!!!
So lets make this event one of the greatest events EVER!!! Make sure to get your tickets!!! I hope to see you there!! God Bless!!!

Get your mind on track!!!!!

When you are going through tough times there is always that person that comes up to you and says "no matter what you are going through there are others in worst situations". A lot of us selfishly choose to give in to the problems and fall into depression instead of taking advantage of this beautiful thing called life. If we have problems we must find solutions for them and not allow them to consume us. We are fortunate to be alive and its for that reason that we should take advantage and live a healthy and productive life. Lets not live in fear. Living in fear robs us of the blessings life has to offer. Let focus on the positive things and not the negative. If you let the negative energy in your system, it will be very difficult for you to live a healthy live. Remember "to hit the road get your mind on track"!!!
